my final post

This will be my last post for this blog.  It is the end of the semester, and this class is only a semester long.  I look back on my first posts, and i realize how much this class has taught me.  All the things I have learned in this class, i can teach to another person.  I'm wouldn't change a thing on how Mrs. James taught us.  She showed us some of the most interesting and useful websites.  This class overall was extremely useful.  Well i bid you adieu.

Kerpoof

Kerpoof is a site that lets u draw pictures. Its a pretty fun site.

Even though this web site is directed at young children, it's still a cute little site.  If i was old enough to have a child I'd definitely have my little boy or girl play on this site.


You can do several things at Kerpoof.com. You can make a movie, a card, a drawing, a picture and a story. So no doubt it will be hard for a person to get bored on this site.

Firefox addons

The coolest add on i found was called Destroy the Web.  Its a download that lets you choose any page and "destroy" it, but after the game is done the page goes back to normal.  After you download the add on a little button gets put on your toolbar.

This is a really fun game, and you can use this and challenge your friends and see who destroys the web better.

Favicon

Favicon is pretty cool, it lets you change the little icon next to the URL.

Its really cool because it lets you customize the icon for your blog or business website.  I think everyone should know about this tool, because this is something that lots of people would love.

Domains

A domain is a custom web address for a web site.  If I owned a business and wanted the web URL to be short simple and easy, I'd go to any web domain site to get it changed to something else.  Its always better to choose a name that's short and easy for people to remember.  Some domain sites are expensive, but some are cheap.  The blogger domains cost only $10 dollars a year, which I'd say is a pretty good price.  A domain name is something I'd use if i owned a business, so if you own a business i suggest you be thinking about getting a domain name for your URL.

Google Alerts

Google alerts can be useful if u want to get emails about a certain subject.  What you do is you go to the Google alerts page, then you type in a subject.

If you want you can preview the results.

Then if you want you can create the alert, and whenever google finds something to do with the subject it will send you an email with the page.  This is something for Gmail accounts only.  Its really cool and it can be really useful.

Google Notifier- for Macs

Google notifier is really cool.  This is a Google feature that you download.  Whenever you get an email sent to your Gmail account a little bubble will pop up telling you that u got an email.  Plus at the top of your screen in the tool bar it will say that you got mail.

Google notifier not only lets you see when you have a new email, but it also lets you see your Google calendar events.  This tool can be downloaded for macs and windows.  Google notifyer is helpful and definitely a tool i would use.

Blog This!

Blog This is a tool that is used to link a site real quick. This site can be very useful.  What you do is you down load a little button that says BlogThis! Then when you see a site that you want to blog about you click the button and you now have a page opened that allows u to write your post and it even leaves a nifty little link so others can visit the site as well.  The only downside is is that you need to be logged into your blogger account before your able to post the blog.

Bibme

Bibme is used to site a book.  Like if your doing research and you need to site the book you can find that book on Bibme.org and get it sited really fast and easy.

When siting a book on your own, it can be tedious and hard, but with bibme it doesn't have to be.

This is a post from my blog :)  You can post a blog to blogger from your email account. Its pretty cool. Though I don't see why you couldn't just go to your blog and post the blog, but i suppose its good to have options.  Its easy and Its also pretty cool.

Firefox personas

The Firefox personas are really cool. For people that use a Firefox browser, this is something that you will definitely love.  You can customize the top bar of your page using themes that u can borrow from their site or you can even make your own.  There are TONS to choose from so you aren't limited to just a couple themes. Plus this tool is free so you can change up your page when ever you want to.  Why settle for a boring Firefox theme when you can customize you Firefox theme how ever you'd like.

Google Features

Google is pretty cool.  You can even add a picture as the back round of Google, but first you have to be logged in to your Gmail account.  It can give you directions, lets you look up and preview your favorite books, and it lets you check out the latest news.  Google chrome is a pretty cool version of the original Google.  At first i wasn't sure if the Google chrome was even worth trying out, but in the end I realized just how cool it was.

Google translate is also really fun if you want to play with other languages.  There is a lot of stuff that you can do on Google.




There is also an iGoogle.  Its just as cool as the original, you can add a theme for your iGoogle account to what ever you want, its extremely awesome. :)

Blogger Gadgets

Blogger Gadgets are really cool and fun, there are lots of cool stuff like little virtual pets.  You can feed the virtual pets and they follow your mouse.  There are also gadgets that let you play music on your blog.  The gadgets make your blog extra exciting and fun.

Tagxedo word clouds are fun and cool.  You're going to need a bunch of words to fill in the picture though.

Wordle is just one of the many word cloud sites out there.  Word clouds can be used for fun and for educational reasons.  You can make one for class to spice things up in a speech or assignment.  They are silly, crazy, and cool.  Sometimes there are sites that don't make cool looking word clouds.  Its a good idea to use word clouds when either presenting something, or even just because your bored and want to play with words.

Gaia Online

    Gaia online is a virtual world that, in its own way, is a lot like meez.  The gaia online characters are tiny, cute, and are based on Japanese anime.  You can walk around town and gather gold that are hidden in bushes.  Another thing you can do is gather a ton of bugs so you can make them into ink, and with that ink your little character can get its self a tattoo.  There are tons of clothing options to choose from, but you have to buy your clothes with your gold.  Some items are really cheap like 25 or 15 coins and then there are items that are in the thousands.  Still this is a really fun site with cute graphics, fun games, and is smothered in awesomeness!

Faviki- bookmarking

Faviki is a social bookmarking site.  It lets you put all you favorite sites on there. It helps you search and find cool bookmarks or websites.  Its a useful tool that everyone should use. :)

Diigo- bookmarking

Diigo is a lot like delicious except its a little more confusing.  I'm not a big fan of Diigo because it's too complicated for me to understand.  If you figure out how to use Diigo I'm sure it'd be a very useful tool.

Delicious is a site that organized all you favorite websites, and lets you share them with others.  You put tags on the site link so you can find the site link later.  You can look up sites on delicious that other people have found and liked, so you can spend hours finding cool and fun sites.  :)  Delicious is definitely something I would recommend people use.

Symbaloo- bookmarking

Symbaloo is pretty cool.  It lets you book mark sites in an über sweet way.  The links are little squares that have the sites icon or picture, which is really cute I'd like to think.

You can add your own picture on the links so instead of a pic that just says "facebook" it could be a picture of a dog or of something else of your choosing.  You can add any site on symbaloo even ones that aren't well-known.  Symbaloo is a good way to organize links.

Social Bookmarking

    Social Bookmarking is for people to organize websites that they find.  Many of these sites let you organize these sites so it'll be easier to find.  They are organized using Tabs, so use tons of tabs so you can find your site months down the road.  People use these for many reasons.  They can use them just to keep their favorite sites organized, for teaching purposes, or even for school assignments to share sources with classmates.  You can make your bookmarks private or public, its up to you.  Social bookmarking is extremely helpful, so if you need help organizing those favorite sites you should go to a book marking site.  (examples: diigo.com, delicious.com)

Meez Rooms

Say goodbye to the old way of chatting, because the meez rooms definitely dominate.  On meez.com you get to make an avatar and with the meez rooms you can use your avatar to walk around and to talk.  The meez can also dance, which is really hilarious. :)  This is a great way to make friends, and connect to others who enjoy the meez site.  You can buy a meez room some are for coins, but none of the rooms are cheap though. :P  Except for one room which is free.  Also, anyone is able to enter your room, so it can either be a bad thing for someone or it can be good.  This is a really fun tool that everyone should get involved in.

Meez avatars

    I really like the meez avatars!  They have cute outfits and cool hairstyles.  The only problem with the meez is that not all of the clothes, hair, or back rounds are free.  You have to earn points to get the outfits, and some outfits can only be obtained by being a "VIP."  On the meez you can change their eyes, eye color, hair, clothes, and you can also give them piercings and accessories.  You can give your meez an action which can make them dance or do other cool things.  There are also options that can make the meez different weights or sizes.  You can also change they eye and mouth and face shape.  I think everyone should have a meez avatar, because they are extremely cute and really fun to make.

The Voki Avatars are pretty cool, because you can make them talk.  You can change the back round, the face, and the clothes.  You can also choose an animal as the avatar. It's really fun changing the skin color and making them look strange.  Whats also crazy is that you can make their heads and bodies fat.  This is a totally fun Avatar maker! :D

How I use Social Media

I listen to music on youtube.com and I sometimes play little games. :) Finding a good computer game is hard, because a lot of them are quite lame. lol
